CORONAVIRUS COVID-19

April 23, 2021

Dear Guests,

Thank you for choosing Máre St. Clair Hotel at Isla Verde Beach for your stay. We hope you find your room in great condition and that it is clean and to your satisfaction. Please, contact us at the Front Desk if there is anything you need during your stay.

TRAVEL GUIDELINES

Puerto Rico is enforcing local measures developed by the Puerto Rico Tourism Company (PRTC), such as social distancing, mandatory face coverings in public areas, and a variety of mandates for businesses – including, but not limited to, reduced capacities and high standards of cleanliness in accordance with CDC and EPA guidelines. The Department of Health has increased resources to ensure travelers are abiding by local guidelines.

Travelers entering any of the Island’s three open airports, whether on commercial or private aircraft, are required to fill out a Travel Declaration Form and upload negative PCR molecular COVID-19 test (nasal or throat swab) results to the Puerto Rico Health Department’s online portal which produces a QR code required to proceed. Passengers will also be required to present their ID to ensure alignment with the information entered within the Travel Declaration Form. A rapid test will not be accepted, as it can sometimes yield false results.

Starting May 28th, negative COVID-19 tests will only be required for passengers arriving on international flights and those who have not been fully vaccinated; a negative antigen test will also be accepted for these travelers. For those who must present a negative COVID-19 PCR test, the protocol will be as follows:

  • For passengers arriving with a negative test taken no more than 72 hours prior to arrival:
    • Upload their test result to the online portal, which will produce a QR Code required to leave the airport. Travelers will then be allowed to proceed with their trip.
  • For passengers awaiting results from a test taken no more than 72 hours prior to arrival:
    • Fill out the Travel Declaration Form and choose the option to upload test results later. A $300 fine will be issued automatically by the system. The passenger will have the option to upload a test receipt.
    • Once the traveler uploads the test result to the online portal within 48 hours after arrival, the fine will be dismissed. If the passenger fails to do so, the fine will go into effect.
    • The passenger will be required to self-quarantine while awaiting results.
  • For passengers who did not take a test 72 hours prior to arrival on the Island:
    • Fill out the Travel Declaration Form and choose the option to upload test results later. A $300 fine will be issued automatically by the system.
    • The passenger will be required to get tested on the Island within 48 hours after the arrival. A waiver will be granted to these travelers to take a PCR or antigen test on the Island at their own cost, but without the need for a medical referral and a list of testing sites in Puerto Rico will be provided at the airport and can also be found here.
    • Once the traveler uploads the test result to the online portal within 48 hours after arrival, the fine will be dismissed. If the passenger fails to do so, the fine will go into effect.
    • The passenger will be required to self-quarantine while awaiting results.
For any questions regarding the airport entry process, travelers should contact the Health Department at 939-592-5115 or infoviajeros@salud.pr.gov.

Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory and excluded from the CDC requirement to provide a negative COVID-19 test result to return to the mainland United States. Quarantine mandates, recommendations, and entry requirements may vary by state. While the CDC does not require fully vaccinated travelers to get tested prior to traveling, vaccination status will not impact protocol arrival and requirements to enter Puerto Rico prior to May 24th. The Department of Health and the government of Puerto Rico will continue to require a negative COVID test to enter the Island regardless of the passenger’s vaccination status. Starting Friday, May 28th, fully vaccinated travelers entering on domestic flights are permitted to present their vaccination card instead of a negative test. Given federal mandates, the requirement will remain in place for travelers on international flights.

Public beaches and natural reserves are open, following social distancing guidelines. Fully vaccinated travelers will not be required to wear a mask on beaches and parks. Supermarkets, pharmacies, and gas stations are open, with supermarket delivery services available through midnight. Businesses including restaurants, casinos, museums, and pools at hotels are operating at 50% capacity. Reservations are suggested where applicable given limited capacities Island-wide. Bars remain closed. Some businesses, such as lodging options and spas, may require proof of a negative test result upon arrival. It is recommended that visitors check entry requirements prior to visiting.

A continuous assessment of the situation in Puerto Rico and in the United States influences Island-wide orders that prioritize the health and safety of residents and visitors. For travel recommendations provided by the CDC, please see here. For any questions regarding the airport entry process, travelers should contact the Health Department at 939-592-5115 or infoviajeros@salud.pr.gov.
